The fine print
Terms of service
Effective: 13 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and GAZUM, Corp. ("we", "us") about ALCHEMIKA, the game. By playing, you accept them and our Privacy policy. If you don't accept them, please don't use the game.
The game
You photograph real things, and AI turns each one into a card. Combine two of your cards and AI decides what they make: each pair is decided once, for the whole world, and from then on the same two things make the same result for everyone. A result no one has made before is a world-first, written into the Codex, the game's public book, with your alchemist name. Capturing cards and making known recipes are free; world-firsts are limited each day.
Your account
The game gives you an anonymous account, kept on your device: for now, in the browser you play in, so if you clear its data or play on another device, you start a new account. Keep your device safe: anyone using it can play as you. You must be at least 13, or older if the law where you live requires it, to play. One person, one account: making accounts to collect more world-firsts is not allowed.
Your alchemist name
You choose an alchemist name when you start. It is public: it is shown on everything you make or find first. It doesn't need to be your real name, and it doesn't need to be unique, but it must not name or pass for a famous real person, a brand or a character, or for ALCHEMIKA, GAZUM, Aurelia or our team, and it must not be a slur or an insult, be sexual, or be about drugs, violence, politics or religion. Names are checked before they are accepted, and we may remove one that breaks these rules.
Your photos
- Only photograph what you may. You need the right to take and use every photo you capture, including the ones you choose from your library. Don't photograph people without their permission, places where photography isn't allowed, or anything illegal.
- Your photos are processed by AI. To make a card, your photo is sent to OpenAI, as the Privacy policy explains. The game asks for your consent before your first photo. A photo whose main subject is a person, a face, a document or a screen is refused.
- You keep your rights. Your photos stay yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and process them to run the game: to read them with AI, and to keep each one on the back of its card and show it to you. We never show your photos to anyone else. The licence ends when the card or your account is deleted.
The Codex
- One answer for everyone. Each pair of cards is decided once, for the whole world. If two players make the same new thing at almost the same moment, the first one the Codex records is its first maker.
- World-firsts are public. A result no one has made before, and a kind of thing captured for the first time, become public entries in the Codex: number, name, art, lore and date, with the alchemist name of whoever made or found them first. Entries are written and painted by AI from words, never from your photos.
- Credit, not ownership. Making an entry first earns you the credit for it, not ownership of it: entries are part of the game, shared by every player. If you change your name, the new one shows on your entries; if you delete your account, they stay, credited to "an alchemist".
- For as long as the game runs. Entries stay public for as long as the game runs, unless we remove them under these terms.
What the AI makes
Cards, their names and words, and their art are made with AI. The results can be surprising, imperfect or occasionally wrong, and the lore is for play, not advice. If something is offensive, report it from its card or from the Codex. You may keep, download and share images of your cards and of the Codex's entries for personal, non-commercial use.
Community rules
Don't make, or try to make, entries or names with sexual content, violence, hate or harassment, or anything that breaks the law or someone else's rights, and don't steer the AI toward them. Don't try to break, overload, copy or cheat the game, or to get around its limits, for example with several accounts or automated play. We may hide or remove entries, remove names, and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and we review every report. An entry reported as offensive or as showing a real person is hidden until we have reviewed it, and an account with two entries or names removed for breaking these rules loses its name in the Codex: its entries, old and new, are credited to "an alchemist".
World-firsts, the Pass and purchases
- World-firsts are limited. For now, each player can make 2 a day, renewed at midnight UTC, and the game shows how many are left. A new combination over the limit waits until then. A combination that fails, or whose result is already in the Codex, doesn't use one.
- Captures and known recipes are free, within the game's hourly limits.
- We may change these amounts, and when the day's AI budget is spent, world-firsts, and sometimes captures, may pause until the next day while known recipes keep working.
- Nothing is sold yet. With the iPhone and Android apps, we plan to offer a Pass, which is a subscription, and other in-app purchases, sold through the App Store and Google Play and managed by RevenueCat. Before anything is sold, we will update these terms with what each purchase gives, its price, and how a subscription renews and is cancelled. Deleting your account won't cancel a subscription.
- Payments will be handled by Apple or Google, and refunds will follow their policies and the law where you live. What you buy will be delivered at once: where the law gives you a right to withdraw from a purchase of digital content, you agree that delivery begins immediately and acknowledge that you lose that right once it has.
- Cards are never sold. No card, metal or chance of one will ever be for sale. Cards, and the credit for an entry, have no monetary value: they can't be bought, sold or exchanged for money or anything else outside the game, and offering or asking to do so breaks these terms.
Changes and availability
We keep improving the game, so features, limits and prices may change. We'll tell you in the game before a significant change to these terms applies. We try to keep the game running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, and we may end it, with at least 30 days' notice in the game; if we do, we will refund unused purchases where the law requires it.
Ending
You can stop playing and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms; where the law requires, we'll tell you why.
Our responsibility
We provide the game as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for losses caused by things outside our reasonable control. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that can't be limited by contract, or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for all claims about the game is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and 50 US dollars.
The law that applies
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be decided by the state and federal courts in Orange County, Florida. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in its courts. These terms are also available in Spanish; if the two versions differ, the English version prevails, except where the law where you live requires otherwise.
